1/2” pulleys and blocks are generally used for redirects, light rigging, and hauling systems. Good ropes to use with a 1/2” pulley or block are 1/2” Samson Stable Braid, and 1/2” Static Kernmantle. We carry a wide selection of pulleys and blocks in this size, including double sheave pulleys, prusik minders, and true arborist blocks, like the aluminum Hobbs block. For more information on using blocks and pulleys in tree work, check out the Art and Science of Practical Rigging. Click on a picture for a larger image.
Please note that Working Load Limits (WLL) are listed at 10% of the Breaking Strength (Breaking Strength.) This is a safer ratio to use than the 5:1 ratio commonly used for lifting applications, as tree work involves the risk of shock loading, and it is the same ratio used when calculating the Working Load Limit of Arborist Rope.

Stainless steel side plates, aluminum sheaves, bearing, stainless steel axle.
WLL 1,100 lb. Breaking Strength 11,000 lb.
Aluminum side plates, large sheave on sealed ball bearings. Extremely efficient, lightweight, and compact. This pulley has a place in any rescue kit.
WLL 720 lb. Breaking Strength 7,200 lb.
Aluminum side plates, sheave, sealed ball bearings, designed for hauling and pulling systems. Highly efficient sheave mounted on ball bearings.
WLL 810 lb. Breaking Strength 8,100 lb.
Aluminum side plates, sheave, sealed ball bearings, designed for hauling and pulling systems. Highly efficient sheaves mounted on ball bearings. Double sheaves, lower becket.
WLL 990 lb. Breaking Strength 9,900 lb.
Designed for Tyrolean traverses on rope or making zip lines. Sheaves mounted on self-lubricating bushings for good efficiency. Maximum allowable speed: 10 m/s. Accepts up to three carabiners to facilitate use.
WLL 2,225 lb. Breaking Strength 5,400 lb.
Stainless Steel side plates, two 1 1/2” Stainless Steel sheaves, Bearing, and Stainless Steel axle.
WLL 1,400 lb. Breaking Strength 14,000 lb.
The first pulley with integrated double safety sleeve connector for correct positioning of the rope every time. For ropes and cable up to 13mm (1/2”).
WLL 540 lb. Breaking Strength 5,400 lb.
The Hitch Climber pulley has many uses! It can be used for slack tending, generating mechanical advantage for rescue and gear hauling, not to mention improving work positioning systems. Smooth contour and rounded edges are easy on rope and carabiners alike.
