Safety Blue is not actually blue at all, but gets its name from the blue core fibers which become exposed if the line is cut or abraded, warning the user of the danger. Safety Blue is an excellent arborist climbing line with high strength, flexibility, and safety features. Now available in three color patterns: Safety Blue White,Hi-Vee (fluorescent orange/Hi-Vee), and Ultra-Vee (fluorescent lime/white).

The high-visibility Safety Blue has the added safety of being very easy to see, even when dirty. Safety blue is treated with a special coating that helps to increase abrasion resistance and extend rope life. Safety Blue is a 16-strand single braid rope made from polyester and polyolefin fibers. Made by Teufelberger.

ANSI Z133-2012

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has released the ANSI Z133 safety requirements which apply to arboriculutral operations.

Arborist climbing lines are required to have a minimum breaking strength of 5,400 lb (24 kN) when new, and should be no smaller than 1/2” (12.7mm) unless the employee has been trained in the use of smaller line (down to 7/16” / 11mm), and the line's working elongation should not exceed 7% at 540 lb load.

Safety Blue Hi-Vee rope meets ANSI Z133-2012 standards.

The full ANSI Z133 safety requirements are available on our tree care standards page.
