Samson's new Vortex climbing line is a lightweight, full 1/2-inch line with high strength and low stretch, while still coming in under the weight of a 16-strand. Vortex is the newest double-braid climbing line from Samson ropes, and takes advantage of all the latest innovations in rope manufacturing to produce a great climbing line with excellent hand, knotability, and strength. Vortex is truly impressive, in that it is lighter than a 16-strand or 12-strand climbing line, but has an incredible average strength of 8,800 lb, surpassing even our popular ArborMaster® rope as the strongest climbing line we sell! This will be the climbing line of choice for professionals.
Also available is Vortex “Hot” (red/orange/white).
Quick Overview: 1/2” diameter, 8,800 ABS, 7.6 lb per 100’.

“For several months now I have kept mum about the new 12.7mm climb line from Samson. I and a handful of other climbers across the country tested the prototypes of this line. What Samson has come out with is a quality 1/2" 24-strand climb line. It has great hand, knots well, redirects in the canopy, works great with ascenders, Ropewrench, and mechanical belay devices. Being a 1/2" rope with Nylon core this is a bit more weight, though still less than a 16-strand. This is a great climb line for those of us who climb in the rain - the extra diameter eases the strain on the hands when pulling. Vortex comes in a variegated blue-green and variegate orange-red color patterns. This is my new main work line.”

“After reading Niceguydave's review of this rope, I felt comfortable buying this product without ever seeing it. He's RIGHT! When I opened the box, this was the nicest looking piece of rope I own (I also own Safety Blue Hi-Vee, Lava, Fire, ArborMaster RWB, Buzz). This product feels soft and silky to the touch but at the same time, firm and strong. I usually perform take downs only using DRT, but I think I might start using a friction saver just to keep this rope looking good. I have tried several different prusik cords on it and all seem to work OK (VT Hitch). Definitely worth the money. Beautiful tight eye splice by the WesSpur Splicing Dept.”

“This line is a great choice! I had no problems using all of my mechanical devices! The thicker rope offers far better handling! Knots easy and friction hitches glide like a dream! So happy to have made this my new climbing line! Also, something about 8,800 LBS of ABS wipes away the "is my gear going to hold me." JUST LOVE IT!!! ”
