The ISC Portawrap is an arborist lowering device which can be used to manage friction on an arborist lowering line in much the same way as the Port-a-Wrap from Buckingham. The ISC versions of the Portawrap have a unique design which opens up new possibilities in friction management on the lowering line.
The small ISC Portawrap provides smooth, easily-variable friction on arborist rigging lines up to 1/2” (13 mm). This friction management device weighs in at 4.25 lb (1,948 g) and features a steel body with zinc-plated finish for excellent wear-resistance. The small ISC Portawrap has a manufacturer Working Load Limit of 1,760 lb (800 kg). Dimensions are 8 5/8” wide x 9 1/2” tall.
The larger version of the ISC Portawrap has a unique design for increased control of tree rigging lines up to 5/8” (16mm). This lowering device weighs 5.75 lb (2,596 g) with a steel, zinc-plated body. The manufacturer has provided a Working Load Limit of 2,200 lb (1,000 kg) for the large ISC Portawrap. Measures 9.5” wide x 13” tall.
The Large Portawrap is meant to be secured to the base of the tree with a sling attached to the end of the longer portion of the oval bar stock. Wraps taken around the barrel adjust the level of friction management, and the bent bar stock at the end ensures the rope runs correctly on the device.
