Stationary Rope System (SRS) used to be called Single Rope Technique (SRT). In SRS, the climber anchors the rope either in the canopy or at the base of the tree, and the rope does not move. (Contrast with a Moving Rope System (MRS). Good ropes for MRS are 24-strand or 16-strand climbing ropes.)
SRS uses mechanical ascenders sometimes with toothed-cams. This is hard on ropes, so Kernmantles are popular. These have a load-bearing core and a tight jacket to protect it from wear. A good SRS line will have minimal stretch or elongation - very important on long ascents.
We have selected these top ropes for your SRS climbing setup.
11mm (7/16") diameter • 6,700 lb. tensile strength • Weighs 6.04 lb. per 100’ • 1.5% elongation at 10% • Polyester-core Kernmantle • Sewn eyes only
Bifrost is a special color pattern of the all-polyester Kernmaster. The Bifrost is the Rainbow Bridge to Asgard in Norse mythology... seems fitting!
CONTROL 12.5mm is a high-performance kernmantel tree clibming rope, with a unique feature: the super-slim eye splice can pass through the friction chain of the Zigzag!
The CONTROL 12.5 mm low stretch kernmantel rope is designed for tree care. The large diameter ensures high strengthand excellent grip. The EverFlex technology guarantees great flexibility and handling over time. It comes with a splice atone end for optimal rope glide through devices like a friction saver or pulley, and through tree branches. The small size ofthe splice allows it to pass through the friction chain of the ZIGZAG and ZIGZAG PLUS mechanical Prusiks.
7,665 lb tensile strength - 11mm (7/16") - Weighs 5.7 lb. per 100’ - Kernmantle • sewn eyes only
A "Damn Good Rope," the DGR is a Niceguydave favorite. A firm polyester sheath gives good abrasion resistance and ensures the rope won't flatten out, whether dry or wet. Custom cabled construction in the nylon core reduces bounce and prevents lumps.

“ Smooth as butter! Have been using this rope for a short time now and loving it. Sheath is tight and works well with Unicender and Compact Bulldog Bone multicenders (tried Kernamster but found it too small/slick for those devices- spooky!). This rope pulls through the canopy very well. SRT only so no MRT report but expect it would work very well for that as well. Rope is somewhat stiffer than double braid but tying mid-line butterfly is no problem. So far very happy with it! ”

“ I have only used this rope as a rappel line. It has held up well packing it through the brush, coiling and uncoiling, heat or cold, wet or dry. It has a unique hand that doesn't pick up debris when coiling it up in the brush. Sixty feet of it will go through a u-rack under load and come out with very little hockle. Have been very satisfied with it and would recommend. ”

“ This is a great SRT rope! While it is still hard for me to get used to no "boing" ascending a rope(rock and ice climber for 30 years), the handling qualities are great with this rope. I do not like the feel of bono-kernmantle ropes and have recently went back to them for tree work. We live in a rain forest and this rope performs well dry OR wet. It knots well and does not kink up like other static lines I have used in the past. The price is very great for the quality! Thanks! ”

“Best rope period. Low stretch but good enough to work off single rope, easy on the hands for double rope, super light, firm grip, not slippery and really tough cover. The colors aren't 80s sunglasses flashy and still easy to see in the tree. Wesspur's price is a steal and a smooth setup for any gear with their pro splices.”

“This rope from Yale has been around for a while. It turns out that it makes an excellent SRT line when using hybrid work systems like the Ropewrench, Unicender, and Hitchhiker. It is a Kernmantle rope that utilizes a braided core instead of the more common parallel strands. It maintains excellent hand, knots well, and doesn't get 'cabled' or stiff like some static lines do when used. It has a Nylon core, which gives it energy absorption. This is an excellent choice for folks who are working a tree using SRT.”

“Purchased this line during the Labor Day Sale event. This is awesome SRT line. Works beautifully with the Rope Wrench and HH2. I am a 2XL climber and this line has enough stretch and bounce to absorb energy in the case of a slip but still is static enough to be an excellent choice for an SRT line. I am patiently waiting for the Akimbo to hit the general market to try it with that. The only drawback I can name is that the knotting ability is not the same as some other static lines so be sure your knots are properly dressed and set. ”
7,755 lb tensile strength - 11.5mm (7/16") - Weighs 7.3 lb. per 100’ - Kernmantle • sewn eyes only
Low elongation, polyester fibers make this rope perfect for low-stretch applications such as haul systems and long rappels. The 32-carrier sheath is smooth and keeps its rounded shape. At 11.5mm, the Spec-Static will fit most ascenders and other climbing devices.

Tango StatX is low-elongation work rope perfect for climbing in Stationary Rope Systems.
With just 1.2% elongation, it is an efficient and energy-saving rope for ascent. The sheath structure of the StatX was also adapted exactly to the requirements. On the one hand, it has a very good grip and lies comfortably in the hand. On the other hand, it is robust and resistant to withstand the higher demands of SRS for a long time.

“ For a SRS rope this is a great rope. Coming from a Yale bias opinion, this is a tuefelberger (new england rope) that I can say is butter with a wrench hitch cord set up. You won't be disappointed!! ”
