Feedback gathered from highly qualified and experienced 'Pro' users highlighted a demand for a device which does not incorporate a panic-brake function. Enter the D4PRO! The D4PRO Descender is the same great Work/Rescue Descender, but without the panic brake.

This can be particularly useful on longer descents and in rescue/belay applications, where a broader 'sweet spot' is welcomed.

I love my D4!

by Eric Forsman

If you practice a lot of pick-off rescues on SRS, you can't beat a D4. It is built solid as a rock, and the large cam is far smoother and better at dissipating heat than the Petzl RIG. And, unlike the RIG, the D4 can accept 2 carabiners in the eye, which is really important for rescues. The one disadvantage of both the D4 and RIG is that on really long descents (>100m) you need to feed the rope through the device, because the weight of the rope hanging below the device will keep it from feeding. For tree climbers that is rarely an issue.
