Stable Braid is a all-polyester tree rigging rope from Samson. It works great in the GRCS for lifting and lowering or with a Port-a-Wrap. Smooth cover, high-strength, and low-stretch, it's a fantastic tree rigging rope. Available in sizes up to 1", with 5/8" Stable Braid being one of the most popular sizes.

Polydyne is a nylon-core rigging rope from Yale Cordage. The polyester cover makes it tough and durable, while the nylon core fibers provide extra stretch and energy absorption. This makes Polydyne outstanding for rigging down wood in tight quarters. When there is not a lot of room to let the rope run, the extra elasticity in the rope helps absorb rigging forces. Polydyne is available from 1/2" up to 3/4", with 9/16" Polydyne a popular size.

A Set of 4s is a great kit to have on hand for lifting limbs, pre-tensioning, and gaining mechanical advantage. By using stacked pulleys, you can gain a physical multiplier to the force you can apply. If something like the GRCS is not on hand, setting up a set of 4s can help lift storm-damaged wood. A Piggyback / Z-rig kit is a great help for tensioning lines with progress capture.

Rope Winch lines for your chipper are easier to work with than steel and come in multiple sizes and length. Stable Braid makes a great, low-cost winch rope, but if you need strength, there is no beating Amsteel-Blue. This rope is stronger than steel by weight, and is extremely popular for chipper winches.
