24-Strand Climbing Rope

A 24-strand climbing rope has a braided outer layer over a braided core, like a rope inside of a rope (double-braid). Core and cover share the load. This strong construction allows lightweight and small-diameter climbing ropes. The smooth cover works with the widest range of hitches & mechanical devices. All 24-strand double-braids can "milk," where the cover moves past the core. This is normal and the cover can be milked back in the opposite direction. 24-strands are the most popular MRS climbing ropes, and some also work well for SRS.
