At WesSpur, we’ve been anticipating this launch right along with the climbing community. The original Akimbo made waves with its innovative design, and the new Akimbo² builds on that legacy with smarter features, better performance, and more versatility — all while staying compact and reliable for pro-level climbers.

So, what’s new? The Akimbo² brings several thoughtful improvements:

  • No more “approved ropes” list — this model works with ropes from 11.5 mm to 12.7 mm, and includes tool-free friction adjustment so you can dial it in exactly how you like.
  • Smoother climbing thanks to an all-new tending point for SRS setups.
  • Improved feel on the rope — the internal components have been refined to give better control and handling whether you're ascending or descending.
  • Replaceable parts mean you can extend the working life of your Akimbo² instead of retiring it early.

Like the original, this device is designed to attach mid-line, and it works seamlessly with both stationary and moving rope systems (SRS & MRS). That means more flexibility and less fumbling with extra gear while you climb.
