Beginner's MRS Rope Climbing Kit

WesSpur's MRS beginners' kit is a complete selection of gear to begin tree climbing and working using a Moving Rope System.

What you Get:

The Tree Climbing Harness is one of the most important pieces of gear. A good harness keeps you comfortable and supported while working in the tree. For our Beginner's Tree Climbing Kits, we have chosen the Buck Stability saddle. This harness from Buckingham features a wide, padded sit sling and split-suspension forward Ds for your climbing system. Big D rings on the side make attaching your flipline easy. The molded back pad and seat sling provide support while cutting down weight. Quick-connect buckles in waist and legs make it easy to adjust for a perfect fit, and quick to take off and put on. The Buck Stability is a modern update of classic tree saddle design, at an affordable price.

If you would like to upgrade to a more modern design at a slightly higher price tag, we recommend the Arbo Master (SAD721M) as an affordable option, which has a rope bridge for better mobility. This or other harnesses may be substituted upon request.

Your Moving Rope System uses 1/2" Samson Arbor-Plex as your climbing rope, with 9mm Bail Out prusik and CR micro-pulley for tending. Arbor-Plex is a very durable rope, which knots well and is easy to handle. The toughness and affordability of Arbor-Plex makes it a great rope for beginner tree climbers.

The 16-strand Flipline included is a durable, easy-to handle rope lanyard. A eye to eye prusik lets you adjust length easily with the included Prusik Tending Pulley. This rope lanyard setup can be used as a the second point of connection when cutting in the tree, or simply for better work positioning and stability.

Your Throw Line Setup gives you a 164' reel of Marlow Excel throw line and two throw weights for redundancy. Excel is lightweight and durable, and a great throw line for beginners to learn with.

The Carabiners used in the kit are top-quality and made in the USA by Rock Exotica. The oval-shaped RockO carabiner is for use in your Moving Rope System. The symmetrical shape keeps your setup vertically aligned. The Pirate carabiner is an HMS (pear) shape, which is ideal for connecting your flipline adjuster. Both styles of carabiner feature the standard Rock Exotica pull-down gate, which is easier to open one-handed or with gloves.

Gear Storage is provided by a large canvas gear bag which will fit the entire kit, and WesSpur line mug for stowing your throw line.

The Tree Climber's Companion, 3rd Edition gives you a handy reference and manual for tying knots, performing a pre-climb inspection, entering the tree, and much more.

It is the user's responsibility to gain adequate instruction in the use of all climbing equipment. Professional training is recommended.

The Climbing Rope in this package is Samson Arbor-Plex 12mm (1/2"). This rope was the first rope they developed specifically for tree climbing. It is a reliable, and economical choice.

The XTC-Fire climbing rope upgrade is Yale's top-quality XTC 16-strand rope. This rope is a more modern construction, with a smoother surface and improved handling. The rope is supplied with a free sewn spliced eye - a great deal!
